Recipe: the leafy love smoothie, two ways

Got health goals this new year?

We've heard plenty of health goals from those around us, but the most common ones we hear are...

  • Eat more plants
  • Improve immunity
  • Prepare more food at home

Here at della bowls, we know how to crush these goals with one thing: smoothies!

Smoothies are awesome for so many reasons

  1. The potential for variety is endless! You can mix and match fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, seeds, and more.
  2. Eat with the rainbow! Include a wide array of colors in your smoothie to maximize nutrient variety in your diet.
  3. Increase your fiber intake, promoting a healthy digestion system and increasing nutrient absorption.
  4. Incorporate ingredients according to your caloric needs. Lighter smoothies can accompany meals, or smoothies heavier in proteins and fats can serve as a complete meal.
  5. Smoothies are easy to prepare with a few simple ingredients, and clean-up is quick and easy.
  6. Smoothies are perfect for the on-the-go lifestyle.

Get on the smoothie train

Stock up! Here are our recommendations to get your smoothie making off on the right track.

  • Keep a bin of frozen fruits in your freezer, including peeled bananas, strawberries, blueberries, other berries, pineapple, mango, acai, and other fruits.
  • Bulk up your refrigerator with fresh spinach, chopped kale, romaine lettuce, and other leafy greens to add to smoothies.
  • Stock up on nut milks like hemp, oat, coconut, and almond milks to increase variety in your blends, as well as nut butters like almond, sunflower seed, macadamia, and cashew.
  • Provision your pantry with add-in's for smoothies, including seeds and nuts, hemp hearts, chia seeds, cacao powder, flax seeds, and shredded coconut.
  • Keep avocados on hand to make smoothies more creamy and filling.
  • Add a touch of sweetness using pitted dates, maple syrup, or honey.
