Eating healthy in trying times: a message from della heiman, ceo and founder of della bowls

Hello della bowls community,

As we all navigate the rapidly changing circumstances related to the coronavirus outbreak, I wanted to reach out to you to share some updates.

Our kitchens in Brickell and Wynwood are currently open 7 days a week, from 11am - 3am for delivery and pick-up. These kitchens serve Brickell, Downtown, Wynwood, Design District, Edgewater, Little Haiti, Upper Eastside, and surrounding neighborhoods via UberEATS, Postmates, Doordash and GrubHub.

Our new home at The Doral Yard is now ready with a kitchen set to create delicious, vibrantly-flavored bowls for you, your friends and family. That said, as public health officials and government agencies began to discourage public gathering and encourage social distancing, we made the decision to postpone our opening for the comfort and safety of our community. We made this decision before the mandatory closure announcement by Miami-Dade.

All of this has unfolded remarkably quickly, but we are hopeful that the temporary closures of public gathering spaces will help flatten the curve of this pandemic and keep our healthcare system from becoming overwhelmed.

Health and community are at the core of what we do at della bowls. Here is what that means for us right now.

Let’s take care of ourselves and each other.

Staying healthy means more now than ever. Eat and drink things that nourish your body. Get as much sleep as possible. Take time for your mental health. Look out for each other.

We’ll be sharing resources that have helped us and we'll be exploring creative ways to create more community online in the coming weeks. Let us know how we can support you.

We can still deliver to you.

Many of us are staying home more now. You can still enjoy della bowls deliveries and pick-ups if  you are located along Eastern Miami-Dade, pretty much from North Coconut Grove to Little Haiti.

UberEATS is automatically waiving delivery fees for all local orders.

Most delivery platforms have adopted contact-less delivery as an option, so you can elect to have your meal delivered to your doorstep, with no personal contact, if you prefer.

Food and team safety are of the highest importance.

At this time, the della bowls team is working very closely with all departments, delivery platforms, and external suppliers to assure the health and safety of all team, guests, and food offerings.

Our goal is to keep delivering delicious, healthy food while promoting social distancing.

Our kitchen teams are adhering to the strictest hand washing, hygiene, food safety and sanitization standards in order to make sure everyone stays safe. We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to update our procedures as needed.

All employees have been asked to stay home if they are not feeling well, suspect they may be sick, have sick family members, or have had any potential exposure to the virus.

We continue to closely monitor and implement all protocols suggested by the CDC, local Departments of Public Health, and the World Health Organization.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

We’re here to serve and feed our hungry #dellafam, packing good vibes and virtual hugs into every bowl.
